BARBOUR X BARACUTA: SPIN THE NORTHERN BEAT
Two Northern icons reunite for the third time. This Autumn Winter 2025, Barbour and Baracuta return with a fresh interpretation of British heritage, one inspired by the soulful rhythm of the North. Rooted in music, movement, and self-expression, the new collection celebrates the Northern Soul scene: a cultural movement that transformed the dance floors of 1970s Britain and continues to inspire generations today.
Fronted by Goya Gumbani and Normski, two cultural tastemakers who embody the connection between style and sound, the campaign captures an atmosphere of authenticity and rhythm. Shot at Jumbi, Peckham by Normski himself, the visuals merge sound system energy with timeless tailoring, perfectly encapsulating the collaboration’s message: heritage never stands still.
A Fusion of Craftsmanship and Culture
Founded in Manchester in 1937, Baracuta built its reputation crafting weatherproof outerwear with unmistakable style, the legendary G9 Harrington Jacket being the most iconic example. Just 150 miles away, in South Shields, Barbour has been creating its signature waxed jackets since 1894, outfitting mariners, countryside dwellers, and style enthusiasts alike.
Together, these two Northern powerhouses share more than a postcode — they share a philosophy: durability, authenticity, and craftsmanship. With the AW25 capsule, that philosophy takes on a soulful new tone. Every garment channels the vibrancy of Northern Soul, from the energy of all-night dance halls to the sharp silhouettes that defined the movement.
As Baracuta explains, “This collection bridges generations, capturing the essence of Northern Soul while translating it into a contemporary expression of identity and belonging.”
